History of Abraham Lincoln High School

Abraham Lincoln High School, located in Northeast Philadelphia, has a rich history rooted in the community it serves. The school’s journey began with initial plans to name it Mayfair High School. However, the decision was made to name the school after the 16th U.S. President, Abraham Lincoln, establishing it as a significant institution in the area.

The school officially opened its doors, with dedication ceremonies taking place around 1951. Over the decades, Abraham Lincoln High School has educated generations of Philadelphia students, providing them with a strong foundation for their futures. In 2009, the school’s current campus opened, continuing its legacy of serving the educational needs of the community.

Abraham Lincoln High School prides itself on its mission to meet students where they are, acknowledge their needs, and empower them to pursue their personal goals. The school offers a diverse curriculum that includes dual enrollment opportunities with institutions such as Harrisburg University, West Chester University, and LaSalle University’s LEAP program. We also offer robust Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and nationally ranked Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) such as HOSA and SkillsUSA.
